Seven Seas has announced that they have joined together with Hasbro to release My Little Pony: The Manga – A Day in the Life of Equestria.
Each volume of the original manga series will include eight self-contained, yet interconnected stories. Each story will focus on the Mane Six, as well as a host of other characters from Equestria.
The official synopsis for Volume One:
“When Pinkie Pie lends a hoof to help Twilight Sparkle and Spike clean up the library, she discovers a mysterious mirror with the power to gaze into alternate realities. Upon entering the inter-dimensional portal, Pinkie Pie sets off a chain of events that threatens to cause a giant mess in Equestria!”
“We’re absolutely delighted to bring My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to a fun, accessible manga format,” said Seven Seas Publisher Jason DeAngelis. “Manga allows us to tell My Little Pony stories in a fresh and engaging way that readers of all ages will have a blast reading!”
While there’s no word on the writers or artists involved, this is not the first time that My Little Pony has been released as a manga. Back in 2013, Shogakukan’s Pucchigumi magazine in Japan serialised a manga by artistic duo Akira Himekawa, to tie in with the popularity of the TV series.
My Little Pony: The Manga – A Day in the Life of Equestria will be published in print and on digital platforms, with Seven Seas Entertainment releasing the first volume in June 2019.
