The TV version/prequel of Taken was one of this year’s pleasant, if colossally violent, surprises. Following Bryan Mills through his time with a very off the books special operations unit, it featured a solid central turn from Clive Standen, excellent support from Jennifer Beals and an interesting cast of team mates. The show did action as it should be done; fast, nasty, untidy and character driven. We’d particularly recommend episode 6 ‘Hail Mary’, because it’s a tightly plotted espionage story and directed by the always great Lexi Alexander.
So the good news is Taken has Standen, Beals and a strong supporting cast.
And the goodish news is two of those elements are back for season 2.
Expanded to a 16 episode run, season 2 also looks set to be a massive re-tool of the show. Greg Plageman, the former EP on Person of Interest is the new show runner and looks set to sweep the board. It’s a shame, because we really liked the cast as it was, but it’ll be interesting to see how the show changes from here.
