Dwayne Johnson Prepares For A Jungle Cruise

Dwayne Johnson officially can’t get enough of punching large animals. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that fresh off Jumanji and about to start work on Rampage and Skyscraper (No large animals but a delightful sounding Towering Inferno/Die Hard combo), Johnson will then join Jungle Cruise.

This is the movie version of the Disney ride and we’re pretty sure it’s going to be wall-to-wall monstrous animal punching, waterfalls and Raiders of the Lost Ark style action. That’s absolutely Johnson’s bag and it’s great to see an actor not only find a groove but clearly have fun with doing so.

That being said, if it was an entirely faithful adaptation of the ride and was just Johnson telling Dad Jokes while we pootled along a river for twenty minutes we would be fine wit that too .

There’s no director yet but Jungle Cruise looks set to film sometime in 2018.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins Rampage

Rampage may have the best cast we’ve ever seen on a monster movie, let alone a video game adaptation. In addition to Dwayne Johnson, Malin Akerman and Joe Manganiello it can now sport everyone’s favourite paternal demon hunter/baseball bat wielding sociopath. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, seen most recently on The Walking Dead, has joined the cast as Agent Morgan. Described as an agent of OGA (We’re betting Office of Giant Anthropods or something similar) Deadline describe him as someone who ‘rolls with serious swagger and attitude’

So Morgan’s got this in the bag, basically.

The movie, based on classic ‘80s video game Rampage, sees three giant monsters wreak havoc across the US and only Dwayne Johnson’s character can stop them. It’s director Brad Peyton has worked with Johnson before on San Andreas and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island so he’s got the action skills to pull this off. We’ll find out 20 April next year just how the movie hangs together.
