New Trailer for Iron Man: Rise of Technovore Animation

A new trailer for the animated Iron Man: Rise of Technovore film has been released by Marvel. The direct-to-video feature, animated by Madhouse, will be available on Blu-ray and DVD from 15 April (UK) and 16 April (US).

In Rise of Technovore, Iron Man is framed for a terrorist attack by Ezekiel Stane, the son of Stark’s late business rival and archenemy Obadiah, who has developed new bio-technology which supposedly outclasses Iron Man’s armour. Stark must now evade S.H.I.E.L.D agents, and attempt to clear his name.

The film was directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki (Shigurui: Death Frenzy, Steins;Gate) and was written by Brandon Auman (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man: Armored Adventures).

Supernatural: The Anime Series gets UK release

The animated series of Supernatural will be released in the UK on 27 March, and is available for pre-order on Amazon. The series is based on the popular American live-action television series, which follows two brother who hunt demons. Animated by Madhouse, the 22-episode series features both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles voicing their respective roles of Sam and Dean. However, while Padalecki is in all 22 episodes, Ackles only does the voice work for Dean in the final two episodes.

According to the press release by Fetch Publicity, the box set will include a two-part making of, fourteen episode introductions with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles and interviews with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, the directors, Padalecki and Ackles and the Japanese actors.

Death Billiards video short: Madhouse previews anime

Anime Studio Madhouse (Hunter x Hunter) has released its first preview of Death Billiards, the studio’s submission to the Anime Mirai short animation anthology. The story follows two men, who find themselves playing for their lives in a game of billiards.

Death Billiards is directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa (Steins;Gate, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine), and is produced by Takuya Tsunoki (Chihayafuru, Casshern Sins).

The Anime Mirai program is funded by government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs; in collaboration with the Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA), the Anime Mirai funds studios to train young animators on-the-job. Death Billiards is one of four animations of the anthology; the others are Little Witch Academia by Studio Trigger, Aruvu Rezuru – Mechanized Fairies by ZEXCS and Ryo by Gonzo. The shorts will be released in Japanese cinemas on 2 March.
