SCANDAL YELLOW cover

SCANDAL goes "Yellow" for 10th Anniversary

SCANDAL YELLOW coverWith Japanese music becoming ever more popular throughout Europe, SCANDAL is now becoming a household name. Haruna, Mami, Rina and Tomomi are known for their quirky, cute and stylish songs and to celebrate the band’s tenth anniversary, JPU Records will be releasing the band’s seventh album across Europe. Titled “Yellow” it will be available in three fantastic editions; CD, MP3 and as a Limited Edition CD and T-shirt bundle (limited to just 300).

Ten years is a significant length of time for anyone in the music industry, and to say that SCANDAL had completed their first ever world tour in 2015, which covered 41 solo shows across nine countries, it just goes to show what an impact the girls have had with their music. Luckily for fans, the whole tour was captured on film and will be released today (4th March) through JPU Records under the catchy title SCANDAL Documentary Film “HELLO WORLD”.

Akin to their previous works “Yellow” explores the usual upbeat pop-rock sounds we have become accustomed with, but now with touches of ska, heavy rock and punk, the band brings something new for their fans. The recent singles “Sisters” and “Stamp!” which both topped the Oricon charts, are also part of the album (Super Fact: The song “Stamp!” was written and composed by guitarist MAMI whilst on tour outside of Japan). The theme song to their tour DVD “Chiisana Honoo” will also be available, and this will be the first time the song will be available on physical or digital formats. A re-recorded version of “Your Song” from their previous album “Hello World” will also feature full English vocals as a nod to their English speaking fans.

Achieving the “New Artist Award” at the Japan Record Awards in 2009 whilst still teenagers truly shows just how much talent these girls have. Taking the usual pop-rock incentive and turning it into something they can call their own, the members haven’t stopped to take a breather and have continuously pumped out hit song time after time. All six of their previous albums have reached the top five of the national album charts, proving that in Japan and abroad, they have the skills to make it bigger and better within the world’s music industry. Their influence amongst young girls throughout Japan has resulted in an influx of SCANDAL cover bands taking part in battle of the bands competitions.
