After some time in the making, DC Collectibles has released the perfect game for Gaimanites. Feast your eyes on Death, Dream, Destiny et al in all their glory in this stunning Sandman chess set.

Crafted by expert figurine sculptor Paul Harding with designs by Kevin Nowlan, the gorgeous, intricate pieces are made from cold-cast porcelain, set on a black and white wooden game board. Check out the beautiful close-ups on Harding’s blog here.

Naturally, the price tag on the set isn’t exactly negligible – you can pick it up for $291.26 (a little under £187) on Amazon (though Neil himself exhorts people to buy from local comics shops where possible) but it’s a relatively small price to pay to possess your own exquisitely realised Endless. It’s also a limited edition item, so if you want one, be sure to get your hands on it quickly while you still can.

Published by DC’s Vertigo imprint, Neil Gaiman’s latest Sandman series, Sandman: Overture concludes with issue number 6, due for release in late September. Warner Bros. is also developing a Sandman movie, with Joseph Gordon Levitt, Jack Thorne and David S. Goyer attached.

Supernatural: The Anime Series gets UK release

The animated series of Supernatural will be released in the UK on 27 March, and is available for pre-order on Amazon. The series is based on the popular American live-action television series, which follows two brother who hunt demons. Animated by Madhouse, the 22-episode series features both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles voicing their respective roles of Sam and Dean. However, while Padalecki is in all 22 episodes, Ackles only does the voice work for Dean in the final two episodes.

According to the press release by Fetch Publicity, the box set will include a two-part making of, fourteen episode introductions with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles and interviews with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, the directors, Padalecki and Ackles and the Japanese actors.

One Piece Gets UK DVD Release

Manga Entertainment has announced that it will release the first 103 episodes of the pirate adventure anime One Piece in 2013. The episodes will be released in four instalments throughout the year. The boxsets are already available for pre-order on Amazon.

Episodes 1 – 26 boxset: 27 May (this collection will be available early at London MCM Expo on 24-26 May)

Episodes 27 – 53: 1 July

Episodes 54 – 78: 23 September

Episodes 79 – 103: 11 November

The anime will be released in an uncut version with a new dub by Funimation.
