The Canterville Ghost poster Stephen Fry Hugh Laurie 470

Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry reteam for Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost

Fancy A Bit (more) Of Fry And Laurie? Then you’re in luck, because the comedy duo will be reteaming on a film version of Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost.

The film is currently in pre-production and sorting out its financing and is scheduled for release Christmas 2014.

The Canterville Ghost will be an animated movie, with Fry and Laurie providing voices (rather than sitting down with pencils to sketch the thing but you’d probably worked that out yourself).

“M’coll Hugh & I will be working together to voice the new animated feature of Oscar Wilde’s THE CANTERVILLE GHOST,” Fry said on his Twitter feed before he retired for a few days to do some writing.

As well as headlining their own late ’80s sketch show, the pair also appeared together on Blackadder and Jeeves And Wooster.

Melmoth Films, which is behind the project, created the poster you see above and it was added to Fry’s Twitter announcement.

Co-writers Giles New and Keiron Self (That Mitchell And Webb Look) will turn Wilde’s classic ghost story into a full script.

That’s the story finished. “Please Mr Music, will you play?

The Amazing Spider-Man: four-minute video preview

What’s the best thing to hit the web since, well, Spidey himself?

This new four-minute-long video preview of The Amazing Spider-Man of course!

British actor Andrew Garfield takes the lead role, with Garfield’s real-life girlfriend Emma Stone playing Peter Parker‘s love interest Gwen Stacy.

However, the four-minute video preview of The Amazing Spider-Man is most notable for giving fans their first look at Rhys Ifans’ transformation into The Lizard.

And yes, we specifically didn’t screen grab any of Rhys and post it here in case you’re trying to stay spoiler free.

Marc Webb (no really, that’s his name, not a bad pun) is on behind the megaphone, taking over directing duties left by Sam Raimi following the previous popular trilogy.

With The Avengers kicking all kinds of ass at the box office did Marvel really think it would need the money from a new Spidey franchise?

Still, when a reboot looks this good who are we to complain.

Frank Black Millennium movie lance henriksen

Lance Henriksen talks Millennium movie: ‘I think it’s going to happen’

Is a movie spin-off of one of TFT’s favourite TV shows really in the works?

If you believe Lance Henriksen then the deliciously dark Millennium – which was made by the same team behind The X-Files and ran alongside that show from 1996 to 1999 – is really getting its own movie.

“I think it’s going to happen; I really do,” Henriksen told Empire magazine. “There’s a big push on right now, and a lot of crazy people involved.”

The cult TV show saw Henriksen play retired FBI profiler Frank Black, who had a supernatural ability to see inside the minds of serial killers.

Brought back to work by the shadowy Millennium group, Frank tracked demons and human monsters alike.

“The world has changed radically since 9/11,” Henriksen said. “If Millennium was made today, with those same characters, it would be far more interesting than the limited palette they had with serial killers. Imagine Frank’s morality and focus [pitted against an international terrorist plot]. He’d be like a master chess player.”

Henriksen made the claims during press interviews for Disney’s TRON: Uprising. He provides the voice of General Tesler in the animated series.

However, it’s not exactly a done deal yet – especially as the last X-Files movie didn’t break any box office records.

“There are a lot of fans out there, in 65 countries, and I can’t go anywhere in the world without being asked when a movie’s going to be made. It doesn’t have to be an expensive movie. It’s crazy not to give it a shot!” Henriksen added.

Facejacker Fonejacker Kayvan Novak movie development terry tibbs chat show

Facejacker and Fonejacker movie in development

The man behind the Fonejacker and Facejacker TV series is planning a movie version combining elements of both projects.

“Let me tell you now, world exclusive on Radio One, One, One,” Kayvan Novak told Vernon Kay this weekend, “We’re going to do a Facejacker movie.”

The Four Lions star said nothing had been finalised yet but it was unlikely to be shot in the UK.

“How we’re going to do it we’re not sure. But we’re thinking where in the world is left to jack? And we’re thinking Australia, we’re thinking Europe and we’re thinking Northern Ireland,” Novak added.

Novak said the most recent TV series of Facejacker had been filmed in America so the pranks could still be shot undercover, “because I can’t really walk down the street as Brian Badonde without someone going, ‘Bwark’.”

He also revealed that the film project will come at the expense of a new Facejacker TV series.

“Doing a series of Facejacker takes about nine months. It’s pretty intense,” Novak said. “We figure we’re going to take all that energy and put it into making a movie. It’s going to have Fonejacking and Facejacking and it’s going to have a story of some kind with maybe even a Hollywood star in there as well.”

The balaclava-clad ‘telephone terrorist’ told The Sun back in September 2008 that “if anything, he wants to do a film version”. A petition on social networking site Facebook has also been calling for a Brian Badonde movie since April 2011.

Radio One DJ Kaye suggested signing up Leonardo DiCaprio as “he’s cheap”.

“He is very cheap. Not busy. He’s quiet. It’s gone downhill for him, old Leo,” joked Novak.

He also revealed that it takes a huge amount of pranks before there are enough that are considered funny to be used on the show.

“[It takes] a lot. Maybe 300 for every 10 good ones,” he said.

While they’re waiting for the movie, fans can see more of one of Novak’s creations.

“We’re also doing a Terry Tibbs chat show in August,” he announced.
